Annabel is a Sydney based writer, director and photographer, with 15 year’s experience in the Australian and U.S. film and television industry. She is currently developing two feature films and one series, all with strong female leads.
A life-long animal lover, Annabel is currently Directing and Producing CASE FILES for RSPCA NSW. This documentary series follows confronting yet heart-warming animal rescue stories and the staffs’ challenging legal battles for justice.
An AFTRS and UCLA graduate, Annabel was mentored by Michael Petroni (MESSIAH - Netflix, THE BOOK THIEF).
With a gift for subversive comedy and horror, her short films have screened at over 50 international festivals and have won many awards. Her absurdist comedy MAMA ALWAYS TOLD HIM picked up Best Short Comedy at the Academy acclaimed Rhode Island International Film Festival in the U.S.
Annabel started out as an assistant director on big budget U.S. productions. Eight years in casting gave her a sharp eye for performance, working with Australia’s top casting directors - Emmy Award winner Christine King (AVATAR, Star Wars: Ep III) and Emmy Award nominee Kirsty McGregor (ANIMAL KINGDOM, TOP OF THE LAKE). Several years at Fox Studios’ Audition Room gave her experience working with Australia’s highest profile actors. She auditioned cast for series such as BREAKING BAD, TRUE BLOOD and WEEDS.
Annabel absolutely loves genre filmmaking and pushing creative boundaries. She’s developing a feel-good dramedy in the tone of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE and Miranda July’s KAJILLIONAIRE, a series in the tone of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN (Swedish original) and a supernatural thriller based on real events.
A photographer’s daughter, she is also an experienced landscape photographer and dog photographer. She adores animals and nature… and they often find their way into her scripts.
